Background of the Study

Leadership development programs are essential for nurturing the skills, knowledge, and abilities of individuals in leadership positions within organizations. These programs aim to prepare employees for leadership roles by providing them with the tools necessary to lead teams, make strategic decisions, and drive organizational success (Ibrahim & Adamu, 2023). In the banking sector, effective leadership is crucial for navigating the dynamic financial landscape, managing large teams, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Fidelity Bank, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, invests heavily in leadership development to ensure that its leadership pipeline is equipped to meet future challenges.

In Niger State, where Fidelity Bank operates in a competitive financial environment, leadership development is critical for maintaining operational excellence and achieving business goals. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of leadership development programs at Fidelity Bank in Niger State, focusing on how these programs contribute to the bank's leadership capacity, employee performance, and overall organizational success. While Fidelity Bank has established various leadership training initiatives, it is essential to evaluate how these programs translate into practical outcomes in terms of leadership performance and organizational growth (Olajide & Durojaiye, 2024).

The problem lies in assessing whether the leadership programs offered by the bank are meeting their objectives in terms of preparing employees for leadership roles, enhancing their leadership capabilities, and driving organizational performance. This study seeks to address this gap by critically evaluating the effectiveness of Fidelity Bank's leadership development initiatives in Niger State.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
